Concrete Chandelier? Why the heck not!

2Cents Blog, Show stopping pieces on September 26th, 2012 2 Comments

Yes, that’s concrete!

Our latest concrete creation is so fresh we haven’t even figured out what to call her yet!
This hanging light fixture is cast in our “Casper” color, measuring about 3′x6′, at 3/4″ thick she only weights about 80 lbs.
We have since made a narrower and longer one of these lights in grey to hang over the custom’s 2Stone concrete Dining table and it looks awesome!

Here is the grey one fresh out of the mould, we still need to cut out the holes for the lights

Check back to see finished photos soon, we had our photographer there last week.

The Casper Chanelier is hangin up in our showroom right now, if you would like to have a closer look stop by our studio!

2Stone and a surprise at the Calgary Home and Garden Show

2Cents Blog, Events, Home Shows on February 7th, 2013 No Comments

2Stone will be participating in this year’s Home and Garden Show at the Calgary Round up Center taking place Feb 28- March 3. We have signed up for our biggest booth ever to showcase our most exciting launch yet. Unfortunately I have been sworn to secrecy, but what I can tell you is that it will be huge!

itc comingWhat I can tell you is that our launch will still have the hand crafted high quality work coupled with cutting edge design that you have come to expect from 2Stone, but in a form most would never have expected. You can check out this month’s Avenue Magazine to get a tiny clue to our 2013 launch.

This year’s Home and Garden Show has a star studded lineup of presenters and exhibitors as well as some tasty food trucks to fill your belly.

2Stone is also participating in the Pallet Design Competition held by the Home and Garden Show.
Some of Calgary’s most prominent individuals will be challenged to show off their creative flare by turning similar wooden shipping pallets into interior design treasures.  One month prior to the event each participant will be provided with 3 pallets and a $125 budget to create their masterpiece.  The finished pieces will be auctioned off at the 2013 Calgary Home + Garden Show, with proceeds going to Make-A-Wish® Foundation so make sure you check that out.

Come on down to check out our big launch and say hello. We love seeing out past customers and meeting new ones.

2Stone in the Toronto Star via Colin and Justin.

2Cents Blog, Homepage News on February 7th, 2013 No Comments

In case you missed it, which is highly likely unless you live in Toronto…2Stone made an appearance in Colin and Justin’s column inside the Toronto Star last weekend. The article focused on different approaches and materials for backsplashes (or “splashback” in Britain according to Colin and Justin). Our now famous once piece backsplash from the “White Kitchen” is pictured in the article.

Its a great article and definitely demands a read, you can check out the full article here.

2Stone is a finallist in Avenue Magazine’s Annual Design Competion

2Cents Blog, Homepage News on February 7th, 2013 No Comments

Stone has wound in in the finalists a second time for Avenue Magazine’s annual Design Competition. For those of you who don’t remember, 2 years ago 2Stone was a finalist with our gorgeous white coffee table/fireplace piece the “CubbyHole”. This year our “Canopy Chandelier” has made it to the finals along with 4 other stellar designs. Avenue Magazine will be awarding the winner a prize of a spring trip to the 25th Montreal International Design Show, the winner will be chosen by a panel of judges as well as having voting open to the public. The pieces are currently on display at BoConcept until the 21st.

Please head on down to check out some amazing local designer and while your there why not throw a vote in for 2Stone so that Justin will finally leave the shop for more than 10 hours to sleep. Also pick up a copy of Avenue Magazine to see this years finalist. But if you cant make it down to BoConcept or find a copy of Avenue, 2Stone will be at the Home and Garden show Feb 28-March 3 at the Round up Centre where we will also be displaying out chandelier.

Board Form Concrete Article on HOUZZ

2Stone in “Best Home” Magazine

2Cents Blog, Press on November 29th, 2012 No Comments

2Stone has again been tipped off by a client that our work is featured in a magazine! The Fall 2012 edition of “Best Home”

Western Canada spotlights a really neat project we did this year in an old reclaimed barn turned gorgeous home. The article begins on page 56 and talks about the process of turning a 1920′s concrete barn into a modern dwelling. The fireplace surround picture in the article was cast in our Calgary studio. It is done using our new “Board Form” technique, meant to mimic the look of traditional cast in place concrete walls. Judging by the article it looks like we even fooled them and I quote “A poured concrete surround captures……”
